The Ultimate Classroom Management Tool: Classroomscreen
Every teacher has a set of go-to tech tools that help keep their classroom running smoothly. One tool that has completely transformed my daily routine is Classroomscreen. This simple yet powerful website has helped me create a more organized and efficient learning environment for my students.
As a former special education teacher, I quickly learned the importance of visual reminders and timers to help students stay on track. During the challenges of COVID-era teaching, I struggled to manage daily agendas using Google Slides. Embedding timers, making changes on the fly, and constantly opening new tabs for group work became frustrating. I needed a solution that was flexible, easy to use, and all-in-one.
That’s when I discovered Classroomscreen. After seeing a teacher rave about it on TikTok, I decided to give it a try. At first, I used the free version, but I loved it so much that I upgraded to the premium version for even more features. Now, I can’t imagine teaching without it!
What is Classroomscreen?
Classroomscreen is an online whiteboard designed to help teachers and students stay on task. It provides a variety of tools—called widgets—that can be displayed on a single screen, allowing teachers to set clear expectations and streamline their classroom management. Whether you need a digital agenda, group maker, noise monitor, or timer, Classroomscreen has you covered.
Classroomscreen Widgets
The real magic of Classroomscreen lies in its widgets—small tools that make a big difference. Each of the different widgets serves a purpose within the whiteboard slides. There is a great amount of customizability within each of the widgets, as well as the benefit that you can have more than one widget on a screen!
Here are some of my favorites:
- Sound Level Widget - Noise in the classroom can be a good thing, but sometimes students get a little too enthusiastic. The Sound Level widget helps monitor noise by displaying a visual cue that shows when the volume is getting too high. Teachers can set a preferred noise level, and if the class gets too loud, a sound alert or color change will signal them to lower their voices. Students love being able to check the screen and adjust their own volume accordingly, making this a great self-regulation tool.
- Timer Widget - Time management is crucial in the classroom. The Timer widget helps both teachers and students stay on schedule. Whether it’s a five-minute warm-up, a ten-minute discussion, or a twenty-minute independent work session, the timer keeps everyone accountable. I use it to structure my lessons, and my students use it to manage their time effectively—an essential life skill!
- Group Maker Widget- Grouping students can be a hassle, especially when you have to consider absent students or adjust group sizes on the spot. The Group Maker widget makes this process seamless. You can enter your class list once and quickly generate random groups with the option to exclude absent students. Even better, you can customize settings to ensure that certain students are always (or never) grouped together. This eliminates social barriers and encourages collaboration without the stress of manual grouping.
Why Classroomscreen Works for Teachers
One of the best features of Classroomscreen is its flexibility. Unlike other tools, you don’t need to exit full-screen mode to make changes. You can adjust widgets, update timers, and modify groupings in real time—all from one place. This adaptability makes it perfect for the dynamic nature of teaching.
Additionally, folks over at Classroomscreen have begun to create pre-made materials for teachers ranging from Daily Agenda slides, stickers, to even games.
Free vs. Premium: Is It Worth It?
I started with the free version of Classroomscreen, which offers basic features like three class lists, access to the template library, and widget customization. However, the biggest downside is that it doesn’t save your screens from day to day. For teachers who like to maintain consistent routines, this can be a challenge.
Upgrading to the premium version was a game-changer for me. With premium, you can:
- Save and organize screens for different subjects or days
- Create multiple “workspaces” for different classes
- Upload custom backgrounds like worksheets or images
- Have unlimited class lists for easier student management
- Coming Soon - You will be able to collaborate with co-teachers!
How I Use Classroomscreen in My Classroom
Here’s a glimpse into how I structure my day using Classroomscreen (click this hyperlink to see an example!):
Math Routine
- I display a Do Now screen with instructions and a timer so students know what to do as soon as they enter the room.
- Our Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) screen randomizes student groups in real time, ensuring fresh collaboration daily. Then, students move into their groupings and are given a timer to know how long they have for the activity.
- I then use a document camera in order to project the class guided notes.
- Afterwards, I display a classwork screen to keep students on track, with timers and instructions clearly displayed, as well as choice activities being listed for students who finish early.
Other Screens
- A Show What You Know (SWYK) screen provides clear information about expectations when having a quick check, the time they will spend, as well as what to do if they finish early.
- The Assessment Screen reminds students of expectations and procedures of test taking, as well as giving them a little positive quote which changes throughout.
Final Thoughts
Classroomscreen is my favorite classroom management tool. It simplifies daily routines, enhances student engagement, and helps me stay organized without the hassle of juggling multiple programs. Whether you’re teaching in-person, hybrid, or online, this tool is a must-have for creating a structured and effective learning environment.
If you haven’t tried Classroomscreen yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Start with the free version, and if you love it as much as I do, upgrading to premium is totally worth it.

I’ve never heard of ClassroomScreen before, but wow, it looks amazing! As a high school teacher, I’m always on the lookout for great resources that can help with classroom management, especially when it comes to setting routines and keeping students on task. From what I can see, ClassroomScreen seems like it could be a game changer for that. The sound level monitor is such a simple but effective way to remind students to keep noise levels in check without having to constantly say anything. It helps create that atmosphere of responsibility without the interruption, which is such a win. And the group picker? Brilliant! It takes away all the hassle of trying to randomly assign groups, and it’s a great way to mix things up and keep things fair. Plus, it could save so much time during transitions, which is always a challenge. I can see both features really helping with classroom management and making transitions smoother. I’m definitely excited to try out ClassroomScreen more with those tools in mind!
